Our Berner adventures started in 1996. While on a cross-state bike ride, we spotted a beautiful black, white and rust dog who belonged to one of the volunteers on the trip. The next year we saw the same Berner and that time we just couldn’t take our eyes off of her. We talked with the owner for a short time and couldn’t wait to get home and look into the breed.
We went to the book store and learned all we could about the Bernese Mountain Dog. While we were disturbed by the short life span and health issues of the breed, their loyalty and temperment traits appealed to us and we wanted to bring one into our home.
Our search began when we visited three breeders and then asked to be on a list. In September of 1998 our first Berner was born and as they say, the rest is history.We have had Bernese ever since and started our breeding program in 2004. This has been a wonderful journey with much learned and yet only touching the surface of what we want to know.
